A monument to Route 66 can be found near the eastern entrance to
the Painted Desert National Park. The car is placed where the road
once ran. While there are markers paying tribute to the Mother Road,
the make and model of the car are not identified.
The Painted Desert Inn, above and below, once offered rest and relaxation
to those crossing the country on Route 66. It is now a rest center and a
museum.
These were support buildings for the Painted Desert Inn.
